The Phillips 66 Company is an international energy corporation with its headquarters in Westchase, Houston, Texas. It was founded in 1902 by the Phillips brothers. When ConocoPhillips completed a spin-off of its downstream and midstream operations, it became the world's first independent energy corporation. The Phillips Petroleum Company Museum in Bartlesville, the name "Phillips 66" for gasoline was coined due to a series of circumstances. The specific gravity of the gasoline tested was close to 66; the car used to test the fuel traveled at 66 miles per hour; and the test was conducted on US Route 66, a national historic landmark.
