Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Offensive Halloween Costume Display Dear Target Corporation Customer Relations, I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding a Halloween costume/display I encountered at a Target store that appeared to depict a Black face in a manner that I found deeply offensive and inappropriate. Blackface is associated with a painful history of racism, humiliation, and dehumanization toward Black Americans. Because of that history, displaying or selling a costume that resembles blackface is not simply a matter of Halloween humor or personal taste. It can be profoundly hurtful and sends a message that racial stereotypes are acceptable for entertainment. I respectfully ask Target Corporation to take this concern seriously and investigate the product and display immediately. I would also appreciate clarification regarding how this item was approved for sale and display in Target stores. As a longtime consumer, I believe Target has a responsibility to ensure that the products it promotes are consistent with respect, inclusion, and dignity for all of its customers. I am not seeking confrontation. I am asking for accountability, sensitivity, and appropriate action. I would appreciate a response explaining what steps Target intends to take regarding this concern.
