Hampton Inn, on Pelham Road, Greenville, SC is the city and the experience ultimately became horrible. Traveling with an invalid parent is quite challenging but this trip was planned and was to be quite special. The usual accommodation was not available due to the hurricane displacement so we chose this location, primarily due to ease of access and the walk in showers that we saw on the website. Perfect, because as a caregiver with my own illnesses, this set up fit what we needed and have had in the past.
Long story short, the two stay ended with us leaving, having paid a bill and me with a broken hand requiring 8 screws and a metal plate from a slip and fall from a slippery tub. Yes, the hotel was notified that the accident had occurred. Yes, I did hold on to the wall unit to prevent a fall.
Yes, the hotel front desk admits they have slippery tubs. Yes, I went to the ER. Yes, there was trauma surgery with extensive damage done to my dominant hand. Yes, it made it challenging to provide care for my mother. Yes, it interrupted my sales during a busy season of the year. Yes, there were 10 weeks of physical therapy. Yes, I have medical bills and accrued CNA bills to meet this gap of need. Yes, my hand is still healing and will always have a plate and 8 screws.
- [ ] Yes, the hotel denied any liability towards this injury.
- [ ] No, they did not offer any assistance or empathy that indicates they care beyond the bill that we paid for our accommodations.
This Hampton Inn (owned by Hilton) will not receive good comments on any platform where a review is asked. We will continue to warn others about this specific location, and to also share that tubs are DANGEROUS for EVERYONE.
Who uses a tub in the hotel anyway in 2025?
The AI response to the question:
Based on industry insights, hotel tubs are generally not used very often by most guests, with many opting for showers instead, meaning a significant portion of hotel tubs may only be used occasionally per room, even when cleaned daily by housekeeping; however, this can vary depending on the hotel type and guest preferences.
Key points to consider:
Shower preference:
Most people prefer showers over baths, leading to less frequent tub usage in hotels

Please be safe out here Consumers of the Hospitality Industry!
If you fall….they may not care or call; and when they do, they may say ‘No’ when the statistics about tubs say something very different.
If you have an impairment or invisible illness, please take your pool shoes, just in case you arrive and there is no walk in shower to walk into.
