My previous complaints to federal agencies occurred last year and early this year. They included my account being switched from decline overdraft ( you know, things like netflix that hit two days before your check, and "try again in three days" types of fees), to bombing my account with $29.00 overdraft fees. USAA insisted that I was sent a notice and needed to reset my account. A couple of months later, this happened AGAIN, however I had proof that I hadn't added that card to my account to use. USAA crawled back under their rock. I canceled my debit card after losing it on the train, and my renters insurance was not drafted from my account. They hit me with so many late fees it was insane. So I complained. Today I tried to open my spouse an account. Here is what happened.
USAA is a legacy bank, and I added 5 of my 7 children to my family group, my two oldest had also served and I didn't feel that they needed to be added. After changing banking practices last year, I made several complaints against USAA. When I uploaded my marriage certificate in March, I requested new USAA cards reflecting my legal last name. They were finally mailed out two days ago, and may make my rent, electric, internet, and other bills tied to cards late. I tried setting up an account for my spouse, and after verifying everything, was told that they could not add him because one of the people on my list of family members needed to call them. They did not request this for when I added my ex husband, and did not request this for when I opened my son's account. We called two more times, and were told that their computers were having issues. I don't really believe that last excuse, as I told the first person that I spoke with that I guess that I probably should send my direct deposit to Navy Federal. I believe the other two people just did not want to deal with it.
