I and my husband William Reed have been Wells Fargo customers for years (20 + at our current location (Ruidoso, NM) and in Texas before that but your current opportunity for 3.5% (Platinum) Savings (as seen in the Lobby) - looked interesting. So we sat down with a "banker" last Friday and asked about the "deal". But it is only open to NEW Money Not from existing accounts. BUT if we used a cashiers check with funds from our existing checking account and returned on Monday we could open a Platinum Savings Account (our "banker" even checked with the rest of his team to make sure that this was OK. Well we made an appointment for 10 am this morning and another "banker" said because the cashiers check was issued by Wells Fargo that it was not "new" money and No we could not open and account. Of course we could deposit or cash the cashier's check (which had a fee which I want refunded) in another financial institution and have the Platinum Savings set-up. OR (of course I'm not stupid) so I knew that I could cash the cashier's check ($20,000) and have "new" money !
But right now I am angry for the mistake about how initially this was to work - and will investigate any other financial institution in our area that is offering a good rate !!
HOW can you justify making things so difficult for long-term customers - and only making a good deal to "new" money ????
