I am a veteran, federal employee and senior asking for assistance with bank fraud that depleted my life savings. On June 11, 2026, I was acting under duress and fell victim to a Wells Fargo bank imposter. I authorized a wire transfer for $18,340.00. The money was transferred to their customers account and Wells Fargo failed to freeze the account tied to wire fraud-resulting in depletion of recoverable funds. The transfer should have trigger standard bank fraud or AML reviews that adds extra processing time. Banks should have the responsibility to monitor and prevent unauthorized and fraudulently induced transactions Specifically, transactions where a customer was deceived or manipulated into initiating a transfer. My money was in their customer account and they didn’t put a block on the account immediately it will be on them for letting a scammer take it out of their account.
