On January 10, 2025 I my family (myself, wife, 2 daughters, grand daughter) travelled to Salem, Va to see my wife's father in the ICU of Lewis Gayle Hospital. While at the hospital we came to the conclusion it would be best if we stayed the night near the hospital. I used Hotels.com to book (2) rooms at the Hampton Inn Salem East - Electric Road. I opted to pay at the front desk on check in. Once at the hotel I proceeded to check in and was told by the front desk that they only had (1) room available. I showed my booking to the clerk which showed (2) rooms. She said she didn't know why  Hotels.com allowed me to book (2) when they only had (1). I agreed to take the (1) room since it was snowing out side and we had to be near the hospital. The hotel is now charging me for (2) rooms, not Hotels.com but the hotel itself. I have contacted Hotels.com and they have attempted to reach out to the hotel and was told I was charged because I didn't cancel in time, I never had the intentions of cancelling nor did I have a second room to cancel, I was told they only had (1) room available. I have also contacted the hotel directly and was told I didn't cancel in enough time. Yes, I may have been upset with the hotel employee especially since it was the same clerk who checked me in the very night and she knows I didn't have a second room. Not sure how to make it clearer than this, I booked (2) rooms, the hotel didn't have (2) rooms, the hotel billed me for (2) rooms, I only had the benefit of (1) room. Basically they overbooked and kept the money. I'm sure this will be past on the hotel and ignored but the internet is forever and every chance I get I will make sure I express my displeasure with Hampton Inn.
