Subject: Maryland Lemon Law Demand – Repeated Starting System Failure on 2022 Mazda CX-9 To Whom It May Concern, I am formally notifying you under the Maryland Automotive Warranty Enforcement Act (Maryland Lemon Law) that my 2022 Mazda CX-9 Carbon Edition has experienced a persistent, unresolved defect that substantially impairs the use, safety, and value of the vehicle. I purchased the vehicle from Heritage Mazda Towson in June 2025 with less than 30,000 miles. Shortly after purchase, the vehicle began experiencing repeated issues with failing to start. I first reported this defect to Heritage Mazda Towson in September 2025, and despite notification and attempts to explain the issue, the problem continues. Most recently, the vehicle failed to start while I was in the middle of the street, creating a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation. As of today, the vehicle currently has 31,661 miles, meaning I have driven it less than 2,000 miles since purchase. This defect substantially impairs the vehicle’s safety and reliability, and it remains unresolved. Under Maryland’s Lemon Law, a vehicle qualifies if: The manufacturer or dealer is unable to repair a defect after a reasonable number of attempts, or The defect places the vehicle out of service for 30 cumulative days, or The defect impairs the vehicle’s safety, use, or value. My vehicle clearly meets this criteria. I am demanding the following under Maryland Lemon Law: A final repair attempt arranged immediately by Mazda. If the defect cannot be repaired promptly, I am requesting a full repurchase or replacement vehicle, in accordance with Maryland law. A complete, written record of all diagnostics, repair attempts, and service notes related to the starting failure. Immediate towing arrangements, as the vehicle is currently unsafe to operate and will not start.
