We have a 2005 company Ford F 150 truck, recent service on the truck is always performed at Franks Automotive, they service all (23) fleet trucks. We have never not once had a problem with any of the maintenance on any of the fleet trucks. Years range from 2022 to 2005. I am the senior manager at Baytex and I have been driving the truck in question for the past five years. All maintenance is performed at Franks with out any problems 2022 I brought the truck to AAmco in Seguin Texas, they not once ever talking about any engine lights, they not once discussed any error codes with me. We discussed the transmission shutter problem when shifting from 3 to 4 gear. The shutter would make me shift down to 3rd gear and the truck ran fine in third gear. We all agreed the transmission required service up to replacement, I agreed to this and dropped the truck off. After much delays due to staffing problems my truck was ready, when I paid the invoice for the rebuild I picked the truck up. I noticed the same problem (shifting shutter from 3rd to 4th). I brought the truck back and they agreed to look at it again but had not time at the moment and I would have to leave the truck or bring back. I asked for a rental truck and they refused. We agreed as the truck performed fine in third gear (same as it was when I BROUGHT the truck in for the same problem before the rebuild) . Due to my schedule I was unable to get the truck back to the shop until last week. When they called and informed me the transmission is fine my problem was the error codes in my PCM. They gave me random reasons why the truck was the problem and the transmission was fine? They even said the shutter is normal. I brought the truck to Performance Transmission in Seguin, they checked the performance of the transmission and when they test drove the truck they showed me the 4th gear was slipping and not engaging properly. They recommend leaving the truck and they would drop the transmission pan to check the EOD valves to be sure noting was missed in the rebuild. They were very professional. I brought the truck back to AAmaco and took the owner for a drive and performed the same test that the Performance transmission tech did. The owner outright lied to me when he said the problem is with my old engine and the transmission was fine ( transmission would not lock out in 4 th gear but the engine rev up to 4500 RPM. I took the truck to the New Braunfelds Texas AAmco service center. I discussed the problem with them, Warranty for the past work was still valid so I would like them to check the transmission for the same problem. I dropped the truck off, they called and told me a ABS brake code and other codes prevented them from looking at the transmission problem. One comment was all eight sparks plug coils failed ???? The truck was running fine? yes previous work performed codes may of been lingering, I asked them to delete all the codes, have another look at what codes require attention, they refused to delete? If all eight coils were bad the truck would be on a tow truck and not drivable. They gave me a quote $2200 plus to check the truck before they would be able to look at the warranty on the shifting and slipping in 4th problem. I'm a engineer who is 61 years old, I have owned 23 trucks, in my lifetime, I manage a Oil & Gas company with fleet trucks, I discussed this with Franks, I will drop the truck off today with Franks, They will check the truck, delete any possible codes, I checked the consumer reports AAmco shops seem to all be the same when it comes to warranty work, they never say we have to check all the codes before we sell you a new transmission, it seems to be systematic through out all your franchise locations. Going forward, we will get the truck fixed up at Performance transmission, depending on the Performance Transmission report we will seek compensation from AAmco, if there is something that was missed in the first rebuild (as they admitted they only did a moderate rebuild and not a major rebuild even when they told us it was a major rebuild) I will focus my attention on exposing your Warranty program and post our experience . Please feel free to contact me at anytime Philip Morgan New Braunfels Texas
