I contacted mattress firm for help with bed for my daughter. We are low income family and I am going through disability process. Spoke with one lady by text and phone call asking for a bed donation. She said she would find out what they could do. The following day I asked if there was any joy. A different woman called me saying there were 3 beds for my daughter to choose from. So yesterday took daughter to go pick her bed. She picks the one she likes and hugged me and told me it was the best Christmas present she ever got (she is 12). We get paperwork going only for the woman(same woman who I talked to the 2nd day) to tell me it was going to cost me over $800. We came home only to receive phone call from mattress firm apology to me. There was a miscommunication between their employees. So now here I am unable to get a bed for my daughter making me feel like the most horrible parent. Then I had to tell my daughter she can’t get a bed. She has been sobbing ever since. This is a stressful time of year for everyone but it is exceptionally hard for our family as lost a daughter (12/11/95-12/23/16). So now I get to battle my already ongoing mental health and even more anxiety worry and anger at the situation AND trying to help my daughter with her mental health. It wasn’t right to lie to me letting me and my family think we were being blessed with a new bed for our daughter only to be made feeling worthless parent and daughters only Christmas wish shattered. How unhuman and uncompassionate can people be?
